What a devoted religious young man. If he knows the truth, and gives all his heart and thoughts to the Truth, he would find much joy in our Lord Jesus Christ.
During our conversation, he could not affirm or even deny that there is no assurance of our Faith in Jesus Christ. I shared with him that in the books of Romans and Hebrews (this was added for better reading), Paul talked much about this assurance of the True Faith in Jesus Christ.
During our conversation, we discussed about the baptisms, including the water baptism and the baptism of the Holy Spirit. What I sensed from his answers was that he believed blindly from what the Catholic church taught him. Surely, what he learned was true, but was true in part of the Truth. I guided him to read Acts 1, in which the resurrected Lord Jesus Christ instructed his chosen disciples to wait in Jerusalem to receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit. In his words, the baptism of the Holy Spirit is to receive the power from the Spirit to witness to this whole world that they belong to G-d. Certainly, he had no idea on what the other main function of the baptism of the Holy Spirit is.
During our conversation, we discussed about the status in the Catholic church. He argued that without images, how people can know what they pray to or for. I told him that that is exactly idolatry, in which an idol was setup for worship. In the Ten Commandments, G-d instructed through Moses that no carved images according to any created things to be setup for worship. The Catholic church breaks the G-d's commandments purposefully in order to please or meet the need of the believers. This is a disgrace and they must repent.
Surely, he disagreed with me wholly. But this cannot nullify the truth that I shared with him. I felt what a lost for such a precious soul who is seeking the Lord sincerely yet, has been misled and deceived. I pray that through this writing, many other young Catholics can repent their sins and come to the truth.
